in the fade

  1. I sat through 3 1/2 hours of the Grammys anticipating QOTSA’s performance with Nine Inch Nails and Dave Grohl and LIndsey Buckingham. I waited. All night. Stayed up way past my bedtime. Watched some real shit ass performances. Sat through Macklemore making me cringe over and over again. I suffered so I would not miss the performance of my favorite band playing with some of my favorite musicians.
And then they rolled credits. And “My God is the Sun” became background music for a Delta promotion. And I was pissed.
I understand that there are many other, more important things in the world to get pissed off about, but for that one brief moment when they pulled away from the band and the credits started rolling, I was consumed with fury at the disrespect shown to the artists on stage and to the audience watching at home.
That is some kind of bullshit.
